Pet Insurance in the United States

Pet insurance premiums for dogs and cats start as low as $10 per month, and depending on the level of coverage, they can go up to $100 per month.

The cost depends on the:

• level of coverage chosen
• your pet
• your pet’s medical history

In some circumstances, discounts are available for multiple pets and for members of the military. Reduced rates may also be available for spayed/neutered pets.

Some insurance companies may offer lower deductibles if you have healthy cats and/or dogs and don’t:

• File accident or illness claims
• Already have multiple discounts
• Have spaying/neutering discounts
• Have military discounts

There aren’t any coverage limits on cat and dog breeds. However, there are coverage limits on age. bolt’s insurance only covers breeds between six weeks and 14 years of age. Some cats/dogs more than 14 years old can qualify for accident coverage. Additionally, cats and dogs over 14 years old can still receive coverage if they have an existing policy.

Your cat or dog can still receive coverage, but your insurance won’t cover your cat/dog’s condition if it was discovered before you enact your policy. However, you could still get their condition covered through an accident insurance policy. Take your furry friend to the vet to screen for any conditions before getting pet insurance.
